About Me

Hello! My name is Jessica, and I am a self-employed illustrator specializing in comics and children’s book illustrations.

I’ve been putting pencil to paper every since I was very young, drawing for the love of it (I still have a box of the first “books” I made when I was a child.) I am largely self-taught, but have honed my skills throughout various art classes over the years and through my BA in Illustration/New Pictures at Seattle Pacific University in 2011. I married a wonderful man and Air Force officer in 2009, and have together been living in places from Florida to Japan over the last ten years. We have a feisty little black cat named Rainy, and share a love for the mountains and woods of Washington state. In addition to art, I enjoy a variety of other activities, including cooking, gardening, soccer, skiing, hiking, and playing video & board games.

Currently my focus is writing and illustrating InterStella (my first full-length graphic novel), though I also make time to create whimsical cat drawings and short children’s stories. My first love has always been drawing with pencils, and I’ve been keeping a yearly sketchbook since middle school. Depending on what kind of project I’m working on, I will finish my drawings in either watercolor/inks or digitally, though I’ve also used acrylics (treated like watercolors) and oil paint in the past.

I am ridiculously blessed to be able to do what I get to do. I hope that my art excites and inspires you as much as it has for me!
